Welcome on the website of Hostal Mochilas. My name is Diana and I am Dutch. The first time I came to Nicaragua in June 2008 to learn the Spanish language and to learn about the culture and the people from Granada I met de Children from Spanish school Casa Xalteva. These children don’t have a save home environment and stay during the daytime at Casa Xalteva. I started talking to the kids and the teachers at the school and in this time I realized that this place is something special. I didn’t only learn the language but also learned about all the problems with the kids in the streets. Back in Holland I decided to start a foundation to help the kids. The foundation Support Granada Kids gives the kids the opportunity to play sports and go to school. I went back to Granada in September and December and in this period I decided to stay. I bought Hostal Mochilas in December 2008 and in January 2009 I went back to Holland to sell my house and to get all the documents ready. Now I live in Granada and work with the organizations Casa Xalteva and la Esperanza and all the volunteers. Granada is a special place with special people, and I feel lucky being a part of this.
Take a look around on the website and if you have any questions just email me, I am online every day of the week. You can send me an email in Dutch, English, Spanish and German! E-mail: hospedajemochilas@gmail.com
If you want something different then Hostal Mochilas is a great place to stay when you are exploring beautiful Granada. We offer a quite place with good services and make you feel at home. At the reception we have a lot of nice spaces to sit down, relax, watch TV, read a book or just hang around. Of course we have the famous Nicaraguan rocking chairs, but a nice sofa after a day of hiking on the Mombacho can be really relaxing!
We offer different kind of rooms from dormitories to private rooms with air-condition and private bathroom. It’s a low key Hostal, the rooms are simple but very clean, one of the things we are really proud off. We have a lot of backpackers who come in for just one or two nights and we have people from all over the world who come and stay for a week and more. Even volunteers lived here for a couple of months and love to stay here because of the relaxing atmosphere.
We are situated in a really safe surrounding and 24 hours a day we have somebody who takes care of the Hostal, just to make sure everything is okay! Service is one of the things we take seriously, and we will help you whenever we can.
See you soon in Hostal Mochilas?
Regards
Diana
